Come join us for a day of fun, food, and games! All are welcome, come in costume or not. There will be a Dunk Tank, Rock Climbing Wall, Horse Rides, Vendors, Arts & Crafts and much more.
The buzz in the air is that there is a chance of rain - we are being optimistic and saying that it's NOT going to rain and that a good time will be had by all. But, if by chance is does rain, the event will be postponed until October 6th! We'll keep you posted.

As before, the photographer will take 4 pictures, you will have the opportunity to view and order your favorite pose.
First Day of School

September 7th, 2010Regular classes begin Tuesday, September 7th. Please have your student at school no later than 8:50am, when the first bell rings.
Lunch for the first day will be pizza, and can be ordered that morning.

Parent Orientation Meeting is scheduled for
Thursday, September 9th, at 7:00pm. All parents are requested to attend. Please take this opportunity to talk with your child's teachers, meet other parents, and discuss plans for the coming year.

New Student Placement Exams
For those students who are new to the school, placements exams are given prior to the start of the school. Please see the schedule below for date and times.
Placements exams are being held Thursday, August 19th
Grades 3rd - 5th are from 10:00am to 12:00pm
Grades 6th - 8th are from 1:00pm to 3:00pm
Please contact the office at (831)688-1080, to re-schedule if unable to attend.

This week we will be hiking, going on beach walks, and seeking the creatures that inhabit the area. Ages 5-12.

Come join us at today's Open House & Art Show. Tour next year's class and see the artwork your student had so much fun creating. Participate in the Art Contest where the winning artist wins a gift certificate to Palace Art.For Pre-K through 1st grade parents, there is an Early Education Q & A from 5:30 to 6:30pm. The Open House & Art Show is from 6:30 to 8:30

A Midnight Summer Night's Dream: Thank you for all your wonderful donations, your help with preparations, setting up, tearing down - and of course, for attending this very fun event. We hope you had has much fun as we intended it to be. All your help is truly appreciated and helped to make this year's auction the successes that it was.
School Beautification Project: March 20th from 9am to 12pm we will be beautifying the Aptos Academy. We are asking for parent and student volunteers to join us. We realize that we have asked of your time just recently but all you help is truly appreciated. Bring gardening gloves and any small tools you think maybe useful and join us in this project. If you do not have your parent hours in, this is another way to long some.
Leukemia & Lymphoma: Help support the fight against Leukemia & and Lymphoma. Have a sandwich, and for dessert, stop and grab ice-cream. Erik's DeliCafe and Baskin Robbins of Aptos will be donating 15% of the total sales for the day on April 8th.
Yoga: We are sorry to say but due to lack of interest, the Yoga class has been canceled. Thank Emily Bording for offering this class and for all you do.
Lost & Found: The Lost and Found Barrel is really, really full - please, please take a few moments to go through it and see if you recognize any items that belongs to your student. Items not claimed will be donated.
Forget Me Nots:
Ski Trip Lost & Found: There are a few students missing items from their return. If you have any ski items that you don't recognize, and of course do not belong to your student, please bring them to the office and we'll try to find their owner.
Emergency Kits: Remember, emergency kits are not only in case a disaster strikes, they're for those little emergencies too. Rainy days, falling in a puddle, accidents, and whatever else might occur. Please get those emergency kits turned in as soon as possible.
YuGiOh Cards: or any other trading cards are no allowed on campus. It turns out that, once again, as with the Pokemon cards, students are trading them. Some younger students are not understanding "trading" and end up upset because they have lost their card. Thank you for your understanding.
Tutoring: Marilyn Armstrong is offering tutoring this year. Tutoring sessions are available after school Monday thru Friday. Tutoring will be offered to all ages for reading, writing, and organization/study skills. Marilyn will work directly with your student's classroom teacher throughout the year to support student success. Kindergarten through 5th grade math tutoring is also available. eScrip: If you have not signed up or renewed your Safeway cards, please do so, just go to Scrip.com and renew. Nob Hill and New Leaf are also participants, you can pick up your eScrip cards from Juanita.
Box Tops: Keep them coming. Are another easy way to contribute to your child's school. Please bring in your box tops, we get 10 cents for everyone

Kids Night Out: We provide the care - If you are planning on taking us up on this great offer, please come to the office and sign your student up. Be assured that your student will be entertained, there will be plenty of activities planned for their evening. The fee for Kids Night Out is $20.00, you can drop them off at six and pick them up after a festive evening at the Gala.
Auction/Parent Association Meeting: Next Tuesday, March 9th at 4:15. Auction finalities - auction will only be 4 days away.
Yoga: Have you been to one of Emily Bording's Yoga classes? If you haven't experienced one of her classes, why not come on Thursday and let her relax you after a hard days work. Classes are from 4-5pm and are held in the auditorium of The Aptos Academy for a mere $10.00 per class. Proceeds go to the 7th & 8th grade classes. Adults only, please!

Welcome to the Aptos Academy's new website! We are excited to present to you a new website designed to improve our communications, organize our information and give the teachers an opportunity to communicate with students and family and community. It will be growing quickly with lots of new information and features over time so please check back often and feel free to drop us a line and let us know how we're doing, your feedback is appreciated!
